Book to Movie News

After searching the web for news about movies about YA books I found a few things that perhaps you are not aware.  These are not recent news but somehow I had missed them.  Hope you all enjoy.

Firelight by Sophie Jordan

In 2010 Mandalay pictures purchased the movie rights of this amazing YA series.  I tried to find an update but Mandalay has not posted any recent news.  Well have to stay tuned to find out more about this big screen adaption.

Synopsis

The story follows twin teenage sisters, the descendants of dragons who live in secret with their endangered pride. When their mother learns that the pride has a dark plan for one of the girls who possesses the rare talent of fire breathing, she spirits the twins away to live a normal life among humans.

If you’re a Taylor Lautner fan you may want to stay tuned to this upcoming movie.  He is reported to to star in the movie adaptation of Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. The movie is due to come out sometime in 2013.

Many rumors were linking Miley Cirus to this role but unfortunately they are not certain.  The rights were purchased by MTV Films which is based on the novel Wake by Lisa McMann. Be sure to check out the sequels available at the library, Fade and Gone. McMann also has a new novel coming out in February called Cryer’s Cross.

Are you a Cassandra Clare fan?  The expected release date for City of Bones is August 23, 2013.

First it was the Twilight franchise taking over the world.  Now it's the The Hunger Games  and in a very near future the world won't be ready for the release  adaptation of The Mortal Instruments.


Lily Collins is already set to play teenager Clary Fray, who learns that she is a descendent of the Shadowhunters, a clandestine order of half-angel warriors who protect humanity from demons, vampires, werewolves, and fairies.  Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) is set to direct, taking over from Scott Stewart (Priest), who left the project in February.  Jace will be played by Jamie Campbell Bower from the Twilight saga movies.
