Fallen Crest High by Tijan Book Review

Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn't care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent's divorce. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing.

My Summary...

Samantha is a normal teenager until now that is... She has had a somewhat perfect life.  She attends Fallen Crest Prep, her father is the football coach, she’s with Luke her boyfriend for the past two years and her two best friends are a nut case but they got her back right?

Well everything goes to hell for Samantha.  One day she comes home after school to find out her Mother has been cheating on her father and they have been sent packing.  Her mother is taking both of them into her lover’s home.  To make things worse she will soon become a stepsister to the Kaden' brothers.  Who are they you ask?  Only the two most self center football players on the local public schools.   They are hot, rich and completely out of their minds.

To make things worse Sam finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her with one of her best friends and everyone knew about even her Mother.

Little is to say that Sam's life is about to change and only she knows where it's headed.

Ashamed of her Mother and frustrated with all the gossip she will try to hide from everyone her present living quarters and soon to be step brothers.

My thoughts...

This book completely took me by surprise.  I had heard about it from other Goodreads members but I took my time to dive into it.  Boy was I surprised.   This book will draw you in and keep you hostage you will feel the need to read until you find out what is going on.

It is dark, exciting and intriguing. The Kaden's have become one of my favorite characters after last night.  I cannot wait for the sequel to this book and will definitely explore more of Tijans books.

Waiting on Wednesday - Forever My Girl by Heidi McLaughlin

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am so excited I don't have to wait too much for this book.  It is a must read for me and it comes out Tomorrow.  Yes!

I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.

I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I’ve poured my soul into my music, but I’ve never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.

And now I’m going back.

After ten years.

I hope I can explain that after all this time.

I still want her to be my forever girl

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.
Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.
But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgivable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

Relatively Famous by Jessica Park

Relatively Famous delivers Hollywood with heart. Meet Dani McKinley: A typical teen whose world is rocked when she finds out that her father is a famous Hollywood action star. Now meet Mark Ocean: A self-serving actor with a floundering career who sees that a daughter is just what he needs to reinvent himself as a family man and get back on track. When the two decide to spend the summer together, they must not only wrangle their own love lives, but try to figure out who they really are to themselves and to each other.

Now armed with credit cards, club memberships, and a new wardrobe, Dani learns that what Mark has in wealth, he sorely lacks in parenting skills. Trying to show Mark that parenting is about more than loading her up with Prada bags and taking her to movie premieres is challenging enough, but she's also got her hands full with her new friends. Oh, and the boys... Dani meets Jason, a gorgeous young personal trainer who is easy on the eyes and wildly flirtatious. But is this smug hottie the one for her? Or will she ignore her friends eye-rolling and go for the goofy but sweet surfer?

While juggling her own complicated love life, Dani tries to set her father up with someone less likely to appear on a VH1 reality show, and someone more... well, normal. And age-appropriate. And dressed in anything but a thong bikini. But whether Mark is able to heal old wounds and move forward with anything more than a meaningless fling remains to be seen.

Can Dani fit in with this new, fast-moving California crowd without losing herself? With the world at her fingertips and hot boys now after her, staying grounded gets tough. And can Mark drop his egocentric approach to life and learn to appreciate how truly wonderful his daughter is? As driven as he is to get that A-list acting role, he's willing to do whatever it takes to get there, even if it means using his daughter. Or is he...? Mark and Dani's relationship hits a few highs, but the question becomes whether the lows are too much.

Cover Reveal - If you Stay By Cortney Cole (New Adult)

I have been watching this wave of New Adult genre books that have taken off by storm.  These authors are amazing writers and have created little worlds in their pages that feel real and we can relate to their characters.  I can honestly say I am enamored by many recent stories and have lost sleep finishing such books.

Today I have the honor of sharing this amazing book that will be coming out early 2013.  Enjoy!

24-year old Pax Tate is an asshole.
Seriously.

He’s a tattooed, rock-hard bad-boy with a bad attitude to match.

But he’s got his reasons.

His mother died when Pax was seven, leaving a hole in his heart filled with guilt although he doesn’t understand why. What he does know is that he and his dad are left alone and with more issues than they can count.

As Pax grew up, he tried to be the kid his father always wanted; the perfect golden boy, but it didn’t work. His dad couldn’t overcome his grief long enough to notice and Pax couldn’t keep up the impossible perfect façade.
So he slipped far, far from it.

Now, he uses drugs and women to cope with the ugliness, the black void that he doesn’t want to deal with. If he pretends that the emptiness isn’t there, then it isn’t, right?
Wrong.

And it’s never more apparent than when he meets Mila.
Sweet, beautiful Mila Hill is the fresh air to his hardened frown, the beauty to his ugly heart. He doesn’t know how to not hurt her, but he quickly realizes that he’s got to figure it out because he needs her to breathe.

When memories of his mother’s death resurface from where he’s repressed them for so long, Mila is there to catch him when the guilt starts making sense. Mila is the one…the one who can save him from his broken troubled heart; from his issues, from the emptiness.

But only if he can stop being an asshole long enough to allow it.

He knows that. And he’s working on it.

But is that enough to make her stay?

Freebie Sunday - Free Ebooks for your Reader

On this Freebie Sunday I will bring you a variety of free Ebooks to feed your reader. Hurry up and download them as they might not be free tomorrow.

Abandoned by her latest Prince Charming on the eve of what she expected to be the start of a new life, Leah Gold is left without a home or a man. Frustrated by yet another disappointment in a string of romantic fiascos, she begins an introspective journey through her past for answers. When she discovers what really stands between her and happiness, she sets off on a mission to help spare other women the pain of looking for love in all the wrong places. But will her crusade be a battle that destroys her real prince, who wants only to serve her cause?

In contrast to the reclusive Leah, her well-heeled best friend, Roxanne Stein, teeters on the edge of self-destruction as she tries to satisfy her unquenchable thirst for excitement. Drugs and sex don’t diminish her cravings, and the man she falls for, while charming, is no prince.

Steamy hot, erotic, and often funny, The Prince Charming Hoax is the story of Leah and Roxie’s fight to break free of the “happily ever after” myth that imprisons women. How they save themselves, each other, and perhaps womankind, is a surprise to everyone, especially themselves.

A novella length romantic comedy, with a dash of the serious. Longer than a short story, shorter than a full-length novel - just the right size for a busy reader!

Throw a crazy canine, a handyman, and a quirky artist together and you've got mayhem!

Who'd guess it's Jake, the handyman, who needs rescuing when he answers a call by the distraught artist, Zoe, to stop a toilet flood begun by her crazy canine, FuFu?

Jake's engaged to a sexy, perfect woman, and she's even a great cook! There's no room in his life for a quirky, rich artist, who eats raw vegetables and probably can't even boil an egg -- or is there? Are Jake's perfect plans about to be disrupted?

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should  Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought  I  would play for fun! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on  that page

  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can  add the book to their TBR  Lists  if they  like your teaser.

I came across this book in Goodreads.  The comments were amazing and I wanted to find out about it so I began reading Sunday night.  Bloody Hell!  is all I can say this book completely took me by surprise.  It's Beautiful Disaster meets fifty shades of gray.  WOW!

Leave me a comment on this post for a chance to win an ecopy of this book I will select a winner tomorrow at midnight. Good luck!

Due to sexual content and language, this book is recommended for 17+ – Adult Contemporary Women’s – New Adult Fiction

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?

 My teasers...

“I don’t know how I got myself into this, but I do know that as much as my conscience is ripping into my fucking ears, telling me to leave her alone, I can’t. I don’t want to.
We’ve already gone too far.
- Andrew

“…dwelling and planning is bullshit,” he says. “You dwell on the past, you can’t move forward. Spend too much time planning for the future and you just push yourself backwards, or you say stagnant in the same place all your life.” His eyes lock on mine. “Live in the moment.” - Cam

LOVE THIS BOOK!

True crime writer and Blue Heron Beach’s favorite son, Vince Tremoni, comes home to contemplate the gloomy forecast of his writing career--which took a tragic and unexpected turn thanks to a fan-turned-serial killer. Now, with his future on hold, the last thing he needs is a beautiful widow complicating his thoughts and reminding him that there’s more to life than his flagging career.

But when Jillene and Vince find themselves tangled up in an unplanned summer fling, can either of them deny there’s more to what they’re feeling than a casual affair? Suddenly coffee’s not the only thing heating up at Blue Heron Beach!
