Review of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1) The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
by

Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.  She's wrong.

Hardcover, 452 pages
Published September 27th 2011 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing

ISBN / 1442421762 (ISBN13: 9781442421769)

WOW!  I read this book in two days.  Yes TWO DAYS!  Once I started I could not put it down.  It is intriguing, scary at times and full of surprises.
Mara Dyer has moved to Florida to start a new life with her family after a tragic event marked her life forever.  It's not quite clear what happened, she has some sort of amnesia.  But along the way the characters are introduced quite beautifully.  You get a glimpse of how Close Mara is to her two brothers and how her family plays a part in her recovery.
Along the way in her new school she meets Noah.  BAD BOY GONE wrong!  luv him from the start.  I knew that behind that strong exterior hid a very interesting character.
I strongly recommend this book I give it 5 hearts.

YA Book Upcoming Movie Adaptations

As you all know I am addicted to YA Books.  Fortunately for us book lovers many of them will have a chance at the Big Screen.  The Hunger Games is one I am truly looking forward to experience.  The Mortal Instruments has me on edge and can't wait to see the actors as their characters.  (MOVIE TRAILER PRETTY PLEASE!).

I have gathered a few upcoming adaptations that you might have not heard  yet.  See you at the movies.

YA Book Releases for 2012

2011 had many great YA Books.  Some of them had been first time authors like Veronica Roth with Divergent.  Her book kept me reading all the way through the end.  I am most definitely looking forward for the sequel Insurgent to be released 2012.   Another series that has me *screaming like a little girl* is Nightshade by Andrea Cremer.  After reading the first installment I went on to Nightshade and can't wait for January to read Bloodrose.
Here are some of the upcoming releases I can't wait to read based on popularity in Good Reads.

Clockwork Prince Book Trailer

In its first two days online, the Clockwork Prince trailer garnered 2300 Facebook shares and an additional 2000 fans hit the "like" button, reports Anne Zafian, deputy publisher at McElderry. Senior marketing manager Elke Villa, whose team worked closely with Dirty Robber, the company that produced the trailer, notes that it has "the highest production value of any trailer we’ve done for any of Cassandra’s books," and cites an 'added bonus" to the video: a voiceover by actor Ed Westwick of Gossip Girl fame. "Westwick also narrated the audiobook of City of Fallen Angels and the forthcoming audiobook of Clockwork Prince," adds Villa, "but this is the first time we’ve used the voice of such a well-known actor on one of Cassandra’s book trailers."

Zafian predicts that the trailer’s release will lead to a spike in preorders for Clockwork Prince, which has a 750,000-copy initial printing. This is the largest first run to date for one of Clare’s novels, which have been published in 30 languages and have more than 5.5 million copies in print in North America alone (including e-book editions).

The Infernal Devices, Book Two: Clockwork Prince: Collector’s First Edition by Cassandra Clare. Simon & Schuster/McElderry, $19.99 Dec. ISBN 978-1-4169-7588
