Matched by Allie Condie Book Review

Matched by: Allie Condie
Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow

Matched joins the many recently published dystopian young adult novels.  Cassia Reyes lives in  a world where every thing is controlled The Society runs everything in the country. It takes all the decisions in order to make sure everything is controlled from who you marry to what you eat.  By doing this they guarantee a long and healthy life until you expire according to their standards.

You heard right every single detail is already carefully planned out. Where you live, what you eat, where you work, how fast you run, when you die, who you marry.  You only follow rules to live in this Society.

Cassia Reyes was happy with her life and excited about her upcoming match ceremony.  Something unexpected happens and error in the system and her curiosity  and concern about what happen lead her to find out there are somethings that are not meant to be.  Her search for the truth and what to do with her newly found knowledge lead her to find love, friendship and adventure.

Matched is a great dystopian novel.  A world carefully thought through.  I loved the details of the world and envisioned it clearly.

I give this book 4 out of 5 hearts

The Demon Lover by Juliet Dark FREE excerpt

The Demon Lover by Juliet Dark FREE excerpt

From Goodreads:
I gasped . . . or tried to. My mouth opened, but I couldn’t draw breath. . . . His lips, pearly wet, parted and he blew into my mouth. My lungs expanded beneath his weight. When I exhaled he sucked in my breath and his weight turned from cold marble into warm living flesh.

Since accepting a teaching position at remote Fairwick College in upstate New York, Callie McFay has experienced the same disturbingly erotic dream every night: A mist enters her bedroom, then takes the shape of a virile, seductive stranger who proceeds to ravish her in the most toe-curling, wholly satisfying ways possible. Perhaps these dreams are the result of writing her bestselling book, The Sex Lives of Demon Lovers. After all, Callie’s lifelong passion is the intersection of lurid fairy tales and Gothic literature—which is why she finds herself at Fairwick’s renowned folklore department, living in a once-stately Victorian house that, at first sight, seemed to call her name.

But Callie soon realizes that her dreams are alarmingly real. She has a demon lover—an incubus—and he will seduce her, pleasure her, and eventually suck the very life from her. Then Callie makes another startling discovery: He’s not the only mythical creature in Fairwick. As the tenured witches of the college and the resident fairies in the surrounding woods prepare to cast out the incubus, Callie must accomplish something infinitely more difficult—banishing this demon lover from her heart.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

This book is to be released on April 24, 2012.  The cover looks amazing and the synopsis is very interesting.  Add to your to read list because I am sure it will be a great series to follow.

In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their “pets.” In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero…and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She’s passing for human…for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love.

YA Book to Movie News

When you read a book you visualize the characters, their surroundings and everything else.  Our imaginations are far better than any movie production can come up with.

For example with Divergent one of my favorite scenes in the book is when Tris is looking at the Dauntless kids jumping from the train.  It might not be the best scene from the book but for me just imagining that dangerous stunt would be amazing to watch on screen.

In The Mortal Instruments my favorite scene is the first.  I was sucked in with that opening at The Pandemonium Club.   Clary is with her friends and she sees Jace for the first time.  Isabel in her white gown, the glimpse of her tattoos and just Jace...

After many imaginary scenes and visuals I get goose bumps whenever one of my favorite books is announced to be translated to the  Big Screen.

This week has buzzing with one of my favorite series.  Beautiful Creatures from authors Kami Garcia & Maggie Stohl  have their movie adaption in process.  News of casting has flodded the web.  I cannot wait to see what happens and if my favorite scenes appear on the movie.

With only a little over a month to see The Huger Games and contantly stalking the web for news about the TMI movie I can only hope that well see more movie adaptations soon.

For now here are the links to the recent YA books to movie news.
