Review - Cursed by Jennifer Armentrout
Dying sucks-- and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows
firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her
back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.
Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he's a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she's more than interested. There's just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out.
However, she's willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't? But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not have been an accident at all, she's not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time

My Summary
Ember has been hiding from the world for the past two
years. She wears gloves and cannot touch
any living thing, not even a plant.
Anything that comes in contact with her will die instantly and this is
her curse - the touch of death.
Her little sister Olivia is different as well but instead she
has the gift of life. Any dead person or
animal will come back to life once it comes in contact with her.
Ember didn’t have this curse before she died; this “thing”
was awakened after her little sister brought her back from her death. But everything
she ever knew I about to change. Hayden –
a boy that reaches out to her - appears in her life and will introduce her to
many others like her. Will they accept
her? Will she be able to love and kiss a
boy before she dies?
My Opinion
This story is simply amazing. It’s
about family, commitment and self discovery.
Ember adores her sister and Mother.
Even though her mother is not herself she overcomes adversity and her
own fears in order to provide for her family.
This girl has pretty much bypassed being a teenager in order to take
care of her baby sister.
At the beginning of the story we
meet a girl that pretty much has dropped everything in her life in order to
step up to the plate. Her personal life
is non existent asides from her best friend Adam. She used to be popular, she usded to have more
friends but everyone has turned their back on her the minute the cursed changed
her eyes and body.
As the story progresses we see Ember
blossom into an amazing young woman who learns that life has given her a gift
and she has to learn to cope with it just as many others have.
She is not evil or soulless as
she thinks she is simply different.
There are many stories out there
with a girl like Ember but Jennifer Armentrout simply knows how to make
everything her own and keeps us turning pages until the very end. I cannot wait for book two.
